xtreme Launch

This Sunday at Access, we’re launching xtreme, the small group environment for middle and high school students. xtreme will take place during the 9:30 service as students take part in the music portion of the adult worship environment, are dismissed to the Access Attic, and then break out into their small groups for discussion.

It would seem that a good portion of my time would be spent working to attract students and families to Access and the Student Ministry. While that is certainly a component of what I’m working towards, my main focus is on recruiting, training, and empowering adult volunteers who will, in turn, engage students and families at Access.

Gone are the days of the “Personality-Driven Youth Ministry” where the whole thing is held together by a thin string in the heart and hands of one person… the Student Pastor. My “span of care” is only so large. At Access, we want to create environments that encourage students to prioritze their relationship with Christ, influence their friends, and engage with an opportunity to serve. Sounds weighty, huh? That’s why its so important for me to begin replacing myself with volunteers who do the same thing: build trust to increase our influence.

Does that inspire you to serve?
