My mom mentioned something about this a month or so ago, but I categorically dismissed it simply because it was Oprah. I came across this video the other day and I’m kinda intrigued… kinda. Now, I can’t (and won’t) vouch for the organization that put this video together (nor will I vouch for the creepy voice-over and pious script) or the book that they’re promoting, but the video content is pretty overwhelming in and of itself…
Many of us have heard folks take some passage of Scripture out of context before. Hey, I’m no scholar. I’m quite sure that I’ve done it at some point too! But, some of the references in that video don’t even qualify as “out of context.” They’re just not even accurate quotes of Scripture.
I’m not angry with Oprah.
I’m not mad at Eckhart Tolle.
Yeah. I’m disappointed.
I think I’ll take a different course of action.
I’m gonna think.
I’m gonna strategize.
I’m going to pray.
Because I believe the Message of Hope is the most important message in the world that people can embrace.
Let’s be smart about this.
What do you suggest?

I don’t know much about the whole Oprah thing (first time I’ve seen anything of that sort from her), I’d already come to the conclusion she makes about many paths to god and not necessarily requiring Jesus. To me the question becomes to you want to see the good in all things, including other messages or pretend that Christian doctrine is well written enough to reach everyone.

Well said, Brian. Let’s be praying.
