For our “super-formal, super-serious Family Ministry Staff Meeting” today, my boss (we are friends, too) took me fishing on a small lake (I think they call that a pond) on a large, family-owned piece of property. I hadn’t been fishing in about 3 months and that was about 35 miles offshore. I think the last time I fished freshwater was in the 2nd grade. Nevertheless, it was fishing, so I was all about it.

Unfortunately, it was not all about me.
Adam landed a fish before my line was even in the water.
I tried multiple baits with very little luck.
I had two fish on, but of course lost them in the weeds.

It was great just to get out and get the line wet. For me, there is no better time spent with God than when I’m the surrounded by the Heavens declar(ing) the glory of God and the skies proclaim(ing) the works of His hands. (Psalm 19)

But alas, I’m in a DEEP hole now. Time to focus, do some sit-ups, and get rigged up for freshwater.

Or next time go fishing where they actually fight back.
